Zurich :
A throbbing world
metropolis, the city nestles beside Lake Zurich, with stunning views
of the Swiss Alps. The city is just a ten minute journey from its
international airport. The Zurich night life is famous beyond the
Swiss Borders. There are countless concert halls, dance clubs in old
factory buildings, snug bars and little dives for the night birds.
In Short, Zurich is more than a city Experience. |
| Getting There : Kolten Airport, the international airport of Zurich, is the biggest
airport in Switzerland and the most popular gateway to the country.
Located approximately 11 km north of the city centre, the trip by
taxi costs between 55 CHF to 60 CH. A far better and cheaper option
is to take the train service, for 6CHF - you'll arrive in less than
15 minutes at the Zurich Hauptbanhof (HB), the main railway station
in the center of town. Zurich is a fairly compact town - from the
train station, you can walk or hop on a tram or bus or most Zurich
hotels in less than 30 minutes. Several trains bound for Switzerland
leave from the Gara de l'Est in PAris and Munich. Other connections
are via Basel. All trains arrive at the Zurich Hauptbanhof.
|
| Zurich lies situated
on both shores of the Limmat River. The hamlet that became Zurich
began at the Lindenhof, square, the architectural center of historic
Zurich. Belos this square runs Bahnhofstrasse shopping street which
begins from the train station till lake Zurich. It crosses
Paradeplatz, a converging point for trams and the modern center of
the city. From Paradeplatz you can continue east, passing
Fraumunster church and crossing Munsterbrucke to reach the right
bank of the river. |
| Getting Around :
Zurich is an easy city to navigate, and the trams (streetcars) and
buses are reliable. Zurich and its quays are also ideal for walking,
and many of the places of interest are conveniently grouped
together. |
