| Founded by Rao Bikaji, in 1488,
Bikaner is situated on an elevated ground. It is surrounded by a long
fortified wall with five entrance gates. Both the palace and the fort and
built in the red sandstone, which has become a characteristic of Bikaner. |

- Ganjer Palace & Wildlife
Sanctuary 32 Kms : The lush foliage of the woods here, is home
to the nilgai, chinkara, black buck, wild boar and imperial sand
grouese. Within the sanctuary is the Ganjer Palace and has now been
converted in to a hotel.
- Deshnok 32 Kms : The
temple here is dedicated to Karni Mata, an incarnation of Durga.
What makes the shrine interesting are the mice and rates which are
worshipped as incarnations of bards.
- Kolayatji 50 Kms : The
temple is dedicated to Kapil Muni, propounder of the Sankhya
philosophy and is the site of a fair in the month of Kartik (Oct /
Nov), on a full moon day.
- Kallbangan 205 Kms :
Extensive remains of the pre-harappan and Harappan civilisation have
been founded here in Ganganagar district.
